New Jersey Raised its Spending Cap on Transportation Infrastructure by $600 Million
A law enacted this summer increased the spending cap so the Transportation Trust Fund can continue to pump out $2 billion annually for transportation-infrastructure upgrades through mid-2024. Lawmakers must eventually decide on a new finance plan. Read more here. (NJ Spotlight News)
 
Buttigieg Helps Break Ground on New Portal Bridge Construction
Gov. Phil Murphy, U.S. Transportation Secretary Peter Buttigieg and Sens. Cory Booker and Bob Menendez helped break ground today on new Portal North Bridge construction. The Portal North Bridge project is a critical component of the larger Gateway Program, which will eventually double rail capacity between Newark and New York. The full Gateway program will drive economic growth, create jobs and improve commutes for millions, they said.
