Calling all Monmouth County Artists!
MonmouthNJ 250 has announced an art competition, to highlight Monmouth County’s role in the American Revolution and to showcase the talent and creativity of Monmouth County residents.
Submissions are to portray an historic event in Revolutionary Monmouth County history, between the years of 1775 and 1783.
There are two categories: Professional and Non-Professional.
The first-place prize for each category is $2,026. Second and third place prizes will also be awarded in each category. Registration is required.

Photo to the right is from the Monmouth Beach Bicentennial Parade in July 1976.
As we prepare to celebrate America's 250th in 2026, we are seeking photos from 1976 when Monmouth County celebrated America's 200th anniversary.
Photographs can be of family gatherings, community events, OpSail (tall ships off Sandy Hook), parades, fireworks, etc. If you have it, we would love to see it, preserve it and post on our website and social media pages!

The Monmouth County Historical Association presents “Choices - The Covenhoven Family and the Battle of Monmouth.”
This exhibit provides a personal look at the lives and conditions of Monmouth's residents in the decades leading up to the Revolutionary War.
Visit the historic 1752 home of William and Elizabeth Covenhoven, which was used as a makeshift headquarters by British General Sir Henry Clinton and his officers in the days before the Battle of Monmouth. Discover the choices that were available to the Revolutionary-era residents of Freehold as the British came through on their way to Sandy Hook.
The Covenhoven House is open to the public Fridays from 1-4, and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Call-ahead appointments are available as well - email here to schedule a visit.
The Monmouth County Historical Association is located at 70 Court St. in Freehold Borough.
