President Trump announces 90-day tariff pause for at least some countries, but not China

President Trump on Wednesday announced a 90-day pause on the full effect of his new tariffs for at least some countries. Trump also said that he was raising the tariffs imposed on imports from China to 125% "effective immediately" due to the "lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets." Trump's decision to pause the full effect of tariffs comes becuase he said "more than 75 Countries" have contacted U.S. officials "to negotiate (a) solution" to trade concerns that he raised in imposing the new duties. China hikes its tariffs on American imports to 84%

The increasingly vicious trade war between Washington and Beijing took another turn Wednesday when China imposed an additional 50% tariff on imports from the U.S., hiking its levies on American imports to 84%. The tit-for-tat escalation came hours after President Trump’s 104% tariffs on Chinese imports went into effect, including 50% Trump added Monday. (NBC News)

Profits plunged at Atlantic City’s casinos in 2024, down more than 9% from the previous year, figures released Monday show. And only two of the casinos – Caesars and Hard Rock – saw operating profits increase last year. (CDC Gaming via Press of Atlantic City)

US expected big travel year, but overseas visitors are heading elsewhere

The U.S. tourism industry expected 2025 to be another good year in terms of foreign travelers. The number of international visitors to the U.S. jumped in 2024, and some forecasts predicted arrivals from abroad this year would reach pre-COVID levels. But three months into the year, international arrivals are plummeting. The federal government’s National Travel and Tourism Office released preliminary figures Tuesday showing visits to the U.S. from overseas fell 11.6% in March compared to the same month last year.
