NJ voter registration deadline is today
New Jerseyans looking to pick the state’s next governor must register by today, Oct. 14, to vote in this year’s gubernatorial race. The election is Nov. 4. Early in-person voting begins Saturday, Oct. 25. Mail-in ballots are being accepted now. (New Jersey Monitor)
International Monetary Fund upgrades US growth outlook
The U.S. economy will grow a bit more this year than previously forecast as tariffs have so far proved less disruptive than expected, the International Monetary Fund said Tuesday, though the full impact of those policies is still emerging. The U.S. economy will expand 2% in 2025, the IMF projected in its influential semi-annual forecast, the World Economic Outlook. That is slightly higher than the 1.9% forecast in the IMF’s last update in July and 1.8% in April. (The Associated Press)

Fed's Powell addresses economy pulled between risks to growth, jobs and prices
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Tuesday delivers his last scheduled remarks before the Fed's next meeting with the economy enjoying stronger-than-expected growth and a recent jump in productivity, but still adjusting to tariff and immigration policies that economists worry could lead to both higher inflation and higher unemployment. The Fed is also facing a drought of official data amid the government shutdown that has delayed the September jobs report and other key statistics. An update on consumer prices is now scheduled for Oct.24, before the Fed's Oct.28-29 meeting. (Reuters)
